When you picture a victim, you usually picture someone weak, somewhat fragile. Or maybe you picture a strong survivor, someone who has overcame obstacles and is ready for anything. When it comes to domestic violence, most people picture a female being abused. Not only does society picture a helpless girl, it is usually assumed that they did something to deserve the beating. But what could someone have possibly done wrong to get hit by someone who claims to love them?

Nothing. It shouldn’t matter what someone did. If they did you wrong, sit down and have a talk or just leave. In my opinion, the best way to get back at someone is not violence, it’s simply being happy without them.

It all comes down to your actions and making the right choices. You chose to be with this person and you chose to put your hands on them. Abusers sometimes make up excuses, like something just comes over them and they aren’t in control of their actions. Well then, it’s also about what you did after this incident has happened. Go seek professional help or meditate or something.

But the thing is, it’s not just the people in the relationship, it’s everyone else, like with Chris Brown and Rihanna. The media blew it up and people didn’t get the bigger picture. This was two years ago and as much as I want to say the past is the past, I can’t. Domestic violence is still happening and the media is still portraying the same picture.

Joe Budden beat his ex girlfriend Ester Baxter and even caused her to have a miscarriage. However, just because she’s not this innocent lovely housewife, as a society we have stated that she got what she deserved. Maybe she did cheat, but does that give someone the right to hit her?

Why do we blame the victim for the abusers actions?

I was wondering if you ever considered changing the layout of your blog? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or two images. Maybe you could space it out better?
